What is this field for
VTAP Reader panel
Port
Select the COM port where the VTAP reader is connected. Use the refresh button to find recently connected VTAP readers or new COM ports
Cloud Managed
Enabling this setting will cause this VTAP reader's configuration to be remotely managed by the Dot Origin VTAP Cloud service. Contact Dot Origin to get an account and ensure that your VTAP readers are registered for this service
Send Tap data to VTAP Cloud
Enabling this setting will send tap payloads to the VTAP Cloud service for use with VTAP Cloud applications and web service integrations
Send Tap data to local web server
Enabling this option will send taps from this VTAP reader to the VTAP Agent's local "Tap Server". A remote page running in a browser on this computer can then poll the local Tap Server to retrieve any tap data.
When sending the tap to the web server, the tap can be given an expiry time, after which it won't be returned by the service. By default this is 1 second (or 1000ms), but this time can be set for each VTAP reader.
VTAP Agent Configuration Server panel
Admin Password
The VTAP Agent can be set to require a username and password in order to access its configuration, this helps prevent accidental changes to the configuration.
The username is always "admin" but you can set the password here.
When enabling this option, make sure you set and remember a password, as after you save, the VTAP Agent will require that password to access this page again.
Note the configuration may still be accessible to users of this machine who have admin user access. If you are locked out of these pages you will need to edit the VTAPAgent.ini file directly.
VTAP Agent Tap Server panel
Allowed Domain
This setting has a default of * that will allow web pages served from any domain to access the VTAP Agent's local tap server. By entering a domain name here, you can restrict access to the tap data to pages that are served from specified domain only.
Enable Tap Server
This option allows the tap server to be temporarily disabled without losing its configuration. This may be useful for testing purposes when developing web pages that make use of the VTAP Agent tap server.
